Breast Augmentation / Breast Implants

Breast augmentation enhances the size and shape of your breasts. We offer two types of breast implants. The first, saline, are soft and natural feeling. They are considered by many plastic surgeons to be safe for a woman's body since they are comprised essentially of saltwater. If the implant were to leak or deflate (which rarely happens), the body could naturally absorb the liquid. The second type of implant is cohesive silicone-gel breast implants, also known as "gummy bear" implants. This type of implant gets its name from the filler gel: it has a thick, cohesive consistency, like the candy. The silicone-gel implants feel similar to natural breast tissue, and have a lesser chance of folding, rippling, or rupturing than other alternatives.

During breast augmentation surgery, patients are placed under either a local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Your surgeon then makes an incision under the breast, around the nipple, or under the arm. Through the incision, he creates a pocket to hold the implant. Then, he carefully inserts the implant under the breast tissue or pectoral muscles. He finishes the surgery by stitching up the incision. The whole surgery takes about one hour. Patients typically experience swelling, soreness, and sensitivity during recovery, which lasts three to six weeks. The result of breast augmentation surgery is an exquisitely sculpted bust line that still looks natural.

Breast Lift

As women age and bear children, their breasts may begin to sag, droop, or otherwise lose their shape. A breast lift is a great option for women who have lost the natural elasticity in their skin. Women with smaller breasts tend to experience longer-lasting results, but larger-breasted women can also benefit from a lift.

During standard breast lift surgery, your surgeon makes incisions around the nipple, down to the underside of the breast, and around the crease of the breast. He repositions the nipple and areola, and trims excess skin, firming and tightening the breasts. For women who want to add fullness to their bust, a breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation surgery at the Center for Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery.

Breast Reduction

Sometimes large breasts can place strain on a woman's body, causing neck and back pain. Women with large breasts may also feel awkward in social situations because their large chest attracts unwanted attention. For these cases, our doctors can perform breast reduction surgery, which balances out the patient's proportions and eases discomfort. During the surgery, your doctor removes excess skin, fat, and tissue from the breasts and may reposition the nipple higher on the breast to give it a slight lift.

Many of our breast reduction patients have told us that they feel more confident and comfortable with their proportional bust, and enjoy higher self-esteem. If you have questions about either breast reduction or breast enlargement surgery, please contact the Center for Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery in Daytona Beach, serving Orlando.

Breast Reconstruction

Our plastic surgeons perform breast reconstruction surgery on women who've undergone a mastectomy or breast removal surgery. The reconstructive surgery, which typically involves breast implants, recreates the shape, size, and feel of a natural breast. Our doctors can even recreate the nipple, using skin from another area of the body and tattooing it to look like a natural nipple and areola. Your doctor will explore each option for breast reconstruction with you, carefully considering your health and the results you are hoping to achieve.

Breast Reduction surgery may be covered (or partially covered) by your private health insurance plan if you have medical problems related to the breast enlargement.
