Many of our patients find it impossible to lose fat deposits and firm excess skin around their midsections. Luckily, there is a solution at the Center for Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery in Daytona Beach, near Orlando: abdominoplasty, often called a "tummy tuck." A tummy tuck is a cosmetic procedure intended to give you sleeker, more defined abs. For patients who have recently given birth or had bariatric surgery, a tummy tuck can also reduce the appearance of stretch marks and remove extra skin.
In tummy tuck surgery, an incision is made from hip to hip, and the skin is separated from the abdominal muscles. The muscles are tightened, the waistline is narrowed, and the midsection is flattened. In the next step, the flap of skin is folded down, and the excess skin is removed. Lastly, the flap is replaced, and the incision is stitched closed. The entire tummy tuck procedure takes between two and five hours, depending on the amount of work needed. Bruising and swelling, which typically subside within 10 days, are the most common side effects of tummy tuck surgery.

Many women tend to accumulate extra fat in their upper arms, making them look droopy and flabby. Arm reduction, or brachioplasty, is a procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat cells and slim the arms. Brachioplasty is also a solution for people who have undergone weight loss surgery and have folds of excess skin on their arms.
Despite vigorous exercise, excess fat and skin cannot always be eliminated from the thighs. A thigh lift is a delicate procedure designed to tighten and tone the thighs, creating a more streamlined appearance. During the procedure, excess skin is trimmed away and unnecessary fat is removed, leaving the patient with a pair of beautiful, shapely legs!
An incision is made where the upper thigh and lower fold of the buttock meet. A pocket is made inside the gluteus maximus where a silicone implant is put in place. Special considerations are made to make sure both sides are symmetrical. The patient is under a general anesthetic during this procedure which is done in the operating room. Recovery time will require that the patient avoid sitting or laying on procedure site for six weeks.
For patients who have lost a significant amount of weight after bariatric surgery, a body contouring procedure is an excellent way to safely remove excess skin and tighten up troublesome areas of the body. Usually, a body contouring procedure, such as a tummy tuck, body lift, or buttock lift, improves the patient's overall self-image by completing their triumphant and dramatic transformation. Our surgeons offer the following types of body contouring procedures for post-bariatric patients:
